Super seniors, seniors and the Income tax

Submitted by mridul on Mon, 02/28/2011 - 17:41

The increase in human life expectancy is not a myth anymore. Even the government has taken note of this. What else can explain the new "Super Senior" category that Finance minister of India has carved out of the existing senior citizens ?

Two of the good things the 2011 budget presented by Pranabh Mukherjee is the reduction of Senior citizen's age from 65 to 60 and the creation of this "very senior citizen" group. Pranabh Mukherjee has bought relief to those who really deserve it.

My article on "Microsoft advertisements against Drupal" quickly got viral and now Microsoft has pulled down the advertisement. Mark Brown of Microsoft has posted a comment here in this blog and also posted a separate article at

Is Drupal a bigger challenge to Microsoft that even Google ? Atleast Microsoft seems to thinks so.

The other day I was checking for the Drupal website list. But what attracted me more on the page was the small Google adsense block with the title "Forget Drupal and get:"...

What BBC, CNN and Reuters are doing on youtube ?

Submitted by mridul on Mon, 09/21/2009 - 19:00

The BBC is here, so are CNN, CBC and Reuters. These are the well established media names having their own huge empires. And they are here like any other teenager with his video.

Sure, these broadcasters would not have created their web site in geocities or some other free web hoster. So why are they hosting their videos in youtube ? What is forcing them to a free video host ?

Prescribing yoga as punishment ? Don't do it.

Submitted by mridul on Mon, 11/17/2008 - 16:16

When Yoga is prescribed as a punishment, yoga becomes just that - a punishment. And for the young, a punishment is always a punishment, no matter how divine it may be. A punishment is something that you are forced to do, something that you hate. And once yoga gets tagged as a punishment, it is difficult to erase that image from young minds.

God is a stub or placeholder to explain the unexplainable

Submitted by mridul on Wed, 10/29/2008 - 15:59

Now God is a stub, or a placeholder, for anything and everything that we have no explanation for.

We still have more unresolved stubs today. The beauty of every muscle, every nerve, every cell and every thought participating in perfect synchronization to maintain what is called life, is beyond our explanation. Creation of this universe, human life, thoughts etc are stubs that still need proper explanations.
